Goodbye Hello

For the last few months I’ve had a weekly blog in this space on the general topic of innovation, which is one of my great passions and specialties. But today’s post will be the last one in that series.

I’m starting a new blog focused more specifically on some of the innovations I’ve been involved with in the field of conflict resolution.

I’ve been working with people in conflict for several years now. And what I’ve noticed is that almost all of my clients are just One Good Idea away from resolving their conflict. My role is to help them find that One Good Idea.

How do I do that?

Well, I’ve developed a new approach to conflict resolution that I call the “One Good Idea Approach.” An interesting thing about this approach is that I use a technique in it that I used extensively in an earlier career, when I was a comedy writer for “The Monkees” TV show. It’s a comedy writer’s technique. And the approach works extremely well for resolving conflict.

For example, for several years I worked extensively in the Los Angeles County Court System in conflict resolution. One day I came to court, and the judge I worked for had a request. He told me that there were two women in court that day who were involved in a very angry conflict.

They had been in and out of court for over two years, in a series of escalating lawsuits and countersuits against each other. There had even been violence. The judge said to me, “I don’t want to see this case on the front page of the Los Angeles Times! Will you talk to them?” Of course I said yes.

So at that point, after two years of conflict, I met with the two women for the first time. Within an hour, we worked out an agreement between them and they both signed it. And at the end of the hour they both hugged and walked out to the parking lot together! It seemed like a miracle.

All it took was One Good Idea.

I will be making the move from this site over to the new site through the month of October, and hope to be installed by November 1. I will keep this site up (though inactive) until the new site is up and operating. The new address will be

I have written an ebook outlining my new One Good Idea approach, titled, “Resolve Conflict With One Good Idea.” There will be free copies available for the first month of operation. I look forward to seeing you there!
